body & appearance
Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
He's actually fairly tall for a kid who was born in Japan. He's about 6'0.5" and weighs about 159 pounds. Since he's been playing volleyball he has a very nice athletic build, and probably won't be losing that anytime soon since his work out regimen is pretty crazy.

How old is he?
He's 17!

Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Oikawa is a fairly confident being, so of course he's going to carry himself very tall. Even if he's in front of someone he hates, he still does his best to puff out his chest and stand as tall as he can. Because, you know, intimidation tactics and all that.

How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Fit as a whistle! Nothing odd or strange here.

How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He's as graceful as a swan, honestly. Unless Iwa-chan is throwing a volleyball at his head....

How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He's hella fine, have you seen him??? I mean, this motherfucker has a fan club for christ's sake. No one would have a fan club if they were unsightly.

Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
He's got a light complexion, he's not pale as a vampire though.

Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
A very nice shade of auburn. His hair flips out and is perfectly quaffed hair.

What color are his eyes?
A very nice shade of brown!

Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
His face, probably? Idk whatever his fangirls find most attractive that week.

What are his chief tension centers?
His knee, obviously. And probably his back and wrists from all those monstrous jump shots he does.

What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
He could be a model, really. If volleyball wasn't his thing he would definitely do well in the modeling world. He knows how to coordinate outfits very well, as well as knowing which colors work well with his complexion. He's also that fancy fuck who owns the same outfit and scarves but in different colors and patterns.

Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Of course they do! Though his track suit is a little baggy on him.

Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
He doesn't really have a job, but he definitely doesn't wander the school in his volleyball uniform. That would probably be suicide if he went out looking like that....

You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Some ridiculously expensive pair of boxer briefs. He probably needs something to cling to him anyway since those volleyball shorts can be kind of constricting.

speech
What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
He's got a medium ranged voice? It's not terribly deep, nor is it terribly high pitched. He does pitch his voice to a higher octave when he's being a little shit tho and is messing around with his friends/people he doesn't like.

How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
I'm not going to lie, he kind of has a condescending sounding voice. But he speaks very easily, and doesn't really hold himself back or mince any words.

Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Nothing too noticeable? He does like adding the "-chan" suffix after some people's names. It's mostly random though.

What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
He's only really good at Japanese. But he is learning English thanks to school.

Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
It depends on the situation. If he's with a person who can't speak English then he'll most likely speak the language.

Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Of course he is. He's captain of a volleyball team, he has to be quick on his feet in order to regroup is teammates. He was also interviewed a lot due to the fame Seijou has had with winning competitions.

Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
He's very eloquent. I can't really picture a time where he wouldn't be? Even if he was upset about something, he'd still keep a cool head and mind.

mental & emotional
How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
He's very intelligent, but he's sadly not a genius. He's had to work hard for basically everything he's done in life. And if you were to compare him to a genius he would definitely shoot that shit down instantly. He knows he's not gifted, and he hates that there are things that just don't come to him. If I had to choose between the two though, I would say that he's a little bit of both.

Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He definitely has to think on his feet given his position in the team. He needs to choose which person would be better off sending the ball across the court and how to cater said move to the player as well. Oikawa doesn't just send off regular plain moves to his teammates, he serves them a ball that best suits them and their style.

Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
OH MY GOD HE'S VERY THOUGHT-Y. When he's playing he plays logically, so he takes the time to cater to his team. But whenever he's pushed back against a wally he relies more on instincts and will serve the ball to someone he knows and trusts will get the ball across the court effectively. He also analyzes the shit out of his opponents too, so there's that too.

What kind of education has the character had?
He's currently in his last and final year of high school.

What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Analyzing things and servicing balls. No okay, let me approach this more seriously. When Seijou is playing against a team he watches and re-watches recordings of the opponents last match and analyzes it like no ones business. But that's how he catches flaws and weak areas in his opponents formation. He can also catch small details depending on how many times he re-watches the recordings.

Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
He's so extrovert it hurts.

Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
He's very cheerful! It takes a lot (read: ushibaka or tobio-chan) to rain down on his parade. This is the guy who smiles cheerfully even after Iwa-chan has hit him in the back of the head.

How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
He responds relatively well to new people and situations! Depending on the mood he's either usually relaxed or enthusiastic. But mostly he's enthusiastic. However if he feels like he's being threatened or has been needled down to the point he will lash out viciously.

Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Act!

Which is his default: fight or flight?
Fight. He's not the type who flees from a fight.

Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Seeing as he cracks a few of them on his best bud Iwa-chan, he definitely appreciates jokes! And while he might joke and say that he feels hurt at any of the jokes someone else might try to crack, he enjoys them regardless.

Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Nah.

What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
There are multiple events that have defined Oikawa as a person. The most important few would be the time he tried to slap Kageyama in junior high then later getting his ass whipped into shape by Iwa-chan, and then the multiple times he lost to Shiratorizawa. The event that happened back in junior high was important, because it stopped him from basically running himself ragged by training nonstop. It also helped him realize that it's important to not get caught up in the small stuff. The multiple defeats to Shiratorizawa helped round his resolve to what it is today. He has an undying will, and will never give up or back down. He's also realized that in order to win you need to work properly as a team; volleyball isn't a one man show.

What does he fear?
Failure by letting his team down, and overtraining too much that he damages something beyond repair.

What are his hopes or aspirations?
To kick Shiratorizawa's ass.

What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
Probably the awful moments that shaped him to be who he is today. They're all kind of embarassing and they don't really put him in a good light.

relationships
Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
They don't really show this in the animanga. But I'd like to imagine he has an alright relationship with his parents? They seem like they would be the type to support him regardless the choice he decides to go with.

Does the character have any siblings? What is their relationship like?
He has at least one older sibling? I think it's a sister, but I'm not 100% sure if they stated the gender to his older sibling. Now if he has anymore that's beyond me.

Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
His sweetest nephew Takeru! He helps teach him and the other kids how to play volleyball at the lil Tyke's Classroom! He seems to have the standard relationship most uncles have with their nephews...

Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Hell yeah, he definitely considers Hajime Iwaizumi a member of his family. But I'll get to that in the next question.

Who is the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Hajime Iwaizumi is his best friend for life. They grew up together on the same street, or something like that? Either way, outside from his family, Iwaizumi was the first person who heard of Oikawa's dreams and aspirations. And, of course (in true Iwaizumi fashion) mocked him for it. He did, however, manage to drag Iwaizumi into playing the sport eventually though. Probably under the guise of it being boring to play/practice volleyball by himself. Iwaizumi is Oikawa's rock. He's the one who picks him up when he's down. He was the one who scolded him about overtraining and how it could do long term damage if he wasn't careful. He was also the one who taught him the most important fundamentals of team coordination. Iwaizumi is the one who would have Oikawa's back in a heartbeat.

He... also of course threatens Oikawa's life on a daily basis, and helps keep him in line the most. Especially when the other is too busy flirting with his fans.

But anyway, I don't think I could picture Oikawa functioning properly if he didn't have Iwaizumi in his life? He probably would have closed himself off long after junior high and been too hard on himself re: training.

Does he have other close friends?
No one could ever be as close to what his friendship is like with Iwaizumi. But he is rather fond of his team.

Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
He is the social butterfly. I think it would be extremely hard for him to not make friends. He has a super friendly nature.... when, you know, he's not being a little shit.

Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Family. Since I'm pretty sure he views his team as part of his family. They're like an extended family...

Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
He's single and it sucks!!! ;n; (except not, because his one true love is volleyball. and most of the girls he's dated aren't about that life)

Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
LMAO this is oikawa we're talking about.

Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Oh god I don't even know. Takeru mentioned her name, but I forgot what it was. She's obviously not that important though...

What does he look for in a romantic partner?
You know I.... haven't exactly thought of this... hmn. Let me get back to you on this one.

Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
Oikawa impregnating girls, yes, I needed this image. thank.

Does he have any rivals or enemies?
OH GOD DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED. THIS IS A SPORTS ANIMANGA, SO OF COURSE HE HAS TO HAVE A FEW RIVALS!!!!!

So we have Wakatoshi Ushijima, also lovingly referred to as Ushiwaka-chan. (Tho I like having Oikawa sometimes call him Ushibaka.) Ushijima goes to the rival school Shiratorizawa. And he's had a long standing rivalry with that school since that school was always the one to defeat Oikawa and his team? This rivalry has been going on since junior high and it's, probably one of the best rivalries out there? If only he got the chance to defeat them, at least. BUT ANYWAY- He's worked hard to try to defeat Ushijima and his team, but despite all the hard efforts it just wasn't enough.

And in the other corner we have Tobio Kageyama. He's not a real big threat to him though? (LITTLE DOES HE KNOW, ahaha...hah) Kageyama is lovingly referred to as Tobio-chan. And as I mentioned before Tobio-chan isn't his biggest concern? He does, finally come to terms and acknowledges the annoying kouhai. But he still thinks he's better, naturally.

What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
A 2, at most. Since I can honestly see him hooking up with a guy so long as it was built up. He's actually... now that I think about it, he's probably demisexual with a strong preference for girls? This would explain why most of the relationships he's had never truly work out so well since they always leave him.

How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Well, he's a growing boy so of course the urge of getting off is important to him. It's not really known if he's a virgin or not. But... well, I can actually see him waiting for someone special before he does it with someone.

What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
I'LL FILL THIS OUT LATER WHEN I'M NOT BEING A LAZY BUTT.

beliefs
Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
GOOD LORD YES HE IS A CANCER CHILD. He's very loyal to his friends and teammates, and can adapt easily in matches? Especially if he's playing with a completely new band of people for practices. He also cares a lot about his team too? Enough to put his body through rigorous training to make sure that they win. He also caters a lot to his team too? In regards to him sending them serves that suit their style and what not. HE'S ALSO REALLY MOODY (but does the whole thing where he doesn't want others to see it. so only a certain few get to) AND DEFINITELY HAS HIS SELF-PITY PARTIES. It's a good thing he has a great bff to snap him out of those, tho. All in all though, yes, he is very much a cancer child.

Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Nope.

Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Yepyep.

How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
He's pretty indifferent to them? But he won't knock a person down for believing in something different. If he did then he would be giving everybody a stink eye about not believing in aliens.

What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
Nope.

daily life
What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
He lives a comfortable life mooching off of his parents. He's a high school student who is too focused on volleyball. There is like, no room for him to have a job.

What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
Yet another thing that doesn't really pertain to him!! He's a student and a volleyball player!

Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He lives with his parents. In a house I'm assuming because Miyagi is supposedly in the boonies? So no apartmento life.

Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Milk bread, headphones, music, annnd volleyball shit.

What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else
He's a student. That's what he does for a living. And then he plays volleyball, he's pretty damn good at it too!

What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
PLAYING VOLLEYBALL.

What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He eats a balanced meal whenever Iwa-chan harps on him about it. That and so he doesn't pass out during practice? But he also enjoys eating sweets too. Like milk bread.
